Wise Women Wednesday- A guest blog!
Read below about MOMS Club International by guest blogger Jennifer Palaziol
About 3 years ago, when my son was just over 1 year old - I was invited to a play date. I didn’t know the host of the play date, or anyone in the “group,” but I also had dodged their asking many times and felt obliged to attend. See, I honestly didn’t think that any “mom’s group,” would be the right fit for me. I work full time with 90% women, had a few friends and figured I was all set. If not all set, what could these women in the moms group possibly add to my life? How could I even relate to them?!
Fast forward 3 years. I am now the president of my local chapter of the MOMS club, and I am also an area coordinator volunteer for the international MOMS club. That first play date turned out to be a true turning point in my life. I walked in, all judgmental thinking that none of them could ever understand me. Within 5 minutes some asked me if I wanted a mimosa, and while I happily accepted I looked out to see our 2 kids simultaneously getting naked and jumping on the trampoline. I laughed and sighed and decided maybe I’m not above this, and got to know the group, and the women.
I often say that MOMS club filled a whole in my life/mom life that I didn’t even know was missing. I suddenly had 50 new friends, that wanted to hang out every day - yes it wasn’t at the coolest restaurant in town anymore, it was usually the park or story time at the library but hey - sometimes it’s time to embrace where we are in life.
I found my tribe in the MOMS club. I found people who are no longer just casual friends, or even playmates for my little, but women who are my family. They make me laugh, cry and often dinner when they know that even mamas need some TLC.
When I stopped judging what I thought a MOMS (moms offering moms support), club was I found that it’s book club, play dates, moms night out, service projects, cooking club, learning to sew and meal plan, coffee chats with moms, family days, couples days. In short, I found a community. My community is diverse and amazing. I learned how to sew pants last week, and how to embalm a body the next from my community!
If you’re looking for something, or even if you’re too good like me - check out intentional MOMS club. I have no doubt you may also have a moms club shaped void in your heart that deserves to be filled.
