"Music is the strongest form of magic" Marilyn Monroe

I have always loved music. I love just about any kind of music and have a very eclectic mix of artists and groups on my iphone at any given time. I am not embarased to admit I love country music, rap music and any new Taylor Swift song that comes along. I heard her new song “Me” and fell in love. Who doesn’t love a super peppy pop song with a great message “I’m the only one of me, baby, that’s the fun of me!” Super simple but a great message. I love the part in the Wreck It Ralph sequel when the Disney Princesses are trying to help Venelope find her song. Everyone needs a theme song or a soundtrack to their life.

What songs do you love or what songs speak to you? If you made a soundtrack or a playlist to your life, what would you include? I can hear the first measures of “leader of the pack, “ an oldies song, at a restaurant and be back in my parents station wagon, singing along to the little teal tapes we got from Albertsons, driving to Grandma’s in CA on summer vacation. I can hear No Doubt “just a girl” and be back in high school in the 90’s and thinking I was so cool with my punk and ska music. There was definitely a period of what my family called my “princess of darkness days” with my angsty, angry girl music too. I can hear hear songs from a movie soundtrack and remember exactly who I saw the movie with and where we saw it. Music is so powerful.

If you had to pick and anthem for yourself, or a theme song, what would you pick? I envision my theme song to make me feel like Mary Tyler Moore- at the end when she’s tossing her hat up, or like Laverne and Shirley, linking arms on their way to work. Maybe mine would be “Tubthumping”, by Chumbawamba. Or perhaps “Baba O’Riley” by The Who. “The Hustle” by Van McCoy? too many good choices :)

Tell me if you have a theme song or an anthem. I’d love to add it to my playlist.
